VPN on BlackBerry OS

First download the IPsec certificate. Alternatively you can do this by visiting the following URL in the browser App of your BlackBerry, then save the file:
You do not need to unzip the archive you can simply tap on it in the download folder.
Tap on the ipsec_ca folder and then on the file perfect-privacy_ca.p12 to import the certificate.

The password for the certificate is “pp“. The certificate will only be used for the VPN connection so you can activate the option Restrict usage to VPN.

Next tap on Import.

Now go into System Settings and navigate through Networks and Connections > VPN.

Tap on Add VPN Profile to configure a new VPN connection. As Profile Name you can enter anything. As Server Address use the VPN-Server you want to connect to, for this manual we use

  • Gateway Type: Generic IKEv2 VPN-Server
  • Authentication Type: EAP-MSCHAPv2
  • Authentication ID Type: Fully Qualified Domain Name
  • Authentication ID: VPN-server address, in this case
  • MSCHAPv2 EAP Identity: anything (must not be empty)
  • MSCHAPv2 Username: Perfect Privacy Username
  • MSCHAPv2 Password: Perfect Privacy Password
  • Gateway-Auth Type: PKI
  • Gateway-Auth ID Type: Fully Qualified Domain Name
  • Gateway Auth ID: Must be empty
  • Allow Untrusted Certificate: Prompt
  • Perfect Forward Secrecy: On

Save the profile which will take you back to the VPN profile overview. Tap on the newly created profile to establish the VPN connection.

The VPN connection will be established without any further message popup. In the main menu you will see a key symbol at the top right which indicates you are connected via VPN.
