Perfect Privacy VPN Manager Installation (Windows 8)

Note: Because the VPN Manager is installed as a Windows service you will need administrator privileges to proceed with the following steps. Depending on your Windows configuration you will be asked for your administrator password (or whether you want to proceed as Administrator if your Windows user has these privileges) at one or more stages.

Downloading the Perfect Privacy VPN Manager

Download the VPN Manager Installation Wizard from the Download page in the Member area.

Installing

Execute (double click) the downloaded file.

Proceed through the following installation steps:

Choose the desired language and click “OK”.

Click “Next”.

Confirm the license agreement.

Unless you want to change the installation directory you can click “next” in the following window.

Next you can choose the components to be installed. If you already have the latest OpenVPN version installed you can deselect the OpenVPN check box. If you are unsure if you have any of the components already installed, just click on “Install”; existing components will then be updated to the current versions.

If OpenVPN is to be installed you will need to proceed with the following installation steps:

Deactivate “Show Readme” and click “Finish”.

Now finish the installation process.

You will get a notification that the OpenVPN service needs to be updated. Confirm this by clicking OK.

After the installation has completed the settings window of the VPN Manager will pop up.

In the area below “Store credentials” you can enter your Perfect Privacy user name and password. If you choose to leave these fields empty the software will ask you for your credentials every time you establish a VPN connection.

After the initial installation you will need to download the current Perfect Privacy configuration. To do so click on the button “Download configuration”.

Once the configuration has finished the current number of available server locations will be displayed.

You can now close the settings by clicking “close”, you will get back to the main window.

Now you can connect to a Perfect Privacy server of your choice. Choose a server from the list and click on the connector icon to establish the VPN connection.

The VPN logo on top of the window should change its color from red to yellow. The VPN Manager calls the Perfect Privacy CheckIP Tool in the background to verify that the tunnel is running correctly. If that is the case the symbol will change to green and the server name and IP will be displayed.
